I redesigned the text of the book "12 Years a Slave" from 1853. I used the original content and was experimenting to find a way to show respect towards this topic. I decided to bind the book the "opposite way"––leaving some pages plain. In order to be able to get to the content you need to rip the page open––the act of ripping the pages will eventually free the text.
